Fritz is the author of two of the major and absolute indispensable books on reed organ and harmonium. In arbitrary order: Gellerman's International Reed Organ Atlas, showing almost all builders of reed organs / harmoniums. Also his book "The American Reed Organ and the harmonium". To understand the reed organ you need to have this book on your desktop.
Reed Organ Society
De Amerikaanse editie van een Harmonium Vereniging. Enkele jaren ouder dan de Nederlandse. Beetje veel groter dan de HVN, maar het land is ook groter. Dus allebei even belangrijk, we zijn tenslotte zusjes van elkaar.
Over 25 years in age, this organization is the worldwide association for those interested in the reed organ. ROS Quarterly (meaning 4 issues each year) is one of the three major magazines in this field. ROS-Q focusses on the American organ (obviously). Even in times of financial crisis membership is quite affordable.
Rodny is fastgrowing to be famous on the internet for his efforts to promote the American Reed organ, cottage organ or whatever you like to name it. He restored his Berlin reed organ bare handed and recorded a vast number of youtube movies featuring his Berlin instrument. The more impressive are his youtube movies explaining the details of building and 'how to play' of the reed organ. I have given him notice that a honourary doctorat will be given soon, provided he plays a grand improvisation on the national anthem of his homeland Canada.

De harmoniumverzameling van Lee Conklin was de start van en is nu een onderdeel van het regionale museum van de "Hanover-Horton Area Historical Society" in de staat Michigan. In dit museum treft u een verzameling van bijna 100 instrumenten aan.
The Conklin Reed Organ Museum was started by Lee Conklin and has now become part of the regional museum of the Hanover-Horton Area in the state of Michigan. About a hundred reed organs are in this collection. Recently it was mentioned the instruments will be featured on the web site too.
Estey museum
Museum in Brattleboro in de originele fabrieksgebouwen van de fa. Estey. Voor wat betreft de aantallen geproduceerde harmoniums is de Estey Co. de onbetwiste winnaar. Onderbouwde gegevens laten zien dat er meer dan een half miljoen instrumenten uit deze fabriek zijn gekomen. Estey Museum. Even if you don't own an Estey, you should know that Estey in number op produced instruments, was the biggest of them all. The original factory buildings are still there and now in use as the Museum. Over time Estey manufactured reed organs in various sizes, pip organs, theatre organs, and organs for big mansions, and finally automatic playing reed organs and pianos. Richard Vance
Richard herbouwde een volledig geruïneerde Aeolian Orchestrelle Model "W" (rollenharmonium) en beschreef dat minitieus in een rapport van 27 hoofdstukken, ruim 500 pagina's met ruim 1000 afbeeldingen, waarvan de meeste door hemzelf gemaakte technische tekeningen zijn.

Deze harmoniums worden door de OHS ook opgenomen in hun databases. De vereniging verzorgt ook het uitgeven van geluidsdragers en het archiveren en evt. heruitgeven van historische documentatie.

Coleman Kimbrell
Oedipuss. Een in harmoniumkringen wereldberoemde kater. Coleman Kimbrell was
de baas van Oedipuss, een rode kater. Oedipuss ging bijna 20 jaar lang uit zichzelf op een harmonium zitten als hij merkte dat er een foto van het instrument gemaakt werd. Oedipuss werd daardoor het handelsmerk van Coleman Kimbrell. Oedipuss heeft dus vrijwel zijn hele leven als figurant op vrijwel elke harmoniumfoto gestaan op de achterzijde van het Amerikaanse harmoniumblad ROS Quarterly (harmonium tijdschrift). De kater is nooit therapie geweest. Oedipuss rust sinds december 2004 in vrede. Jaja, dat werd (serieus!) op mailinglijsten wereldwijd gemeld. Overigens, Coleman Kimbrell restaureerde dus harmoniums.
Coleman Kimbrell is a restorer of reed organs. He became famous for his quality of restoration, but also because of a peculiar phenomenon: Oedipuss, his cat. Due to his stature, Oedipuss should be named Felix Ochreata Domesticus. He was not just a cat. Oedipuss knew about cameras. As soon as he spotted one, he jumped on top of the reed organ involved. Hence, this cat became the most featured 'object' in the ROS-Q. He was in every issue. In december 2004 by accident he jumped on top of a digital organ. He did not survive. And believe it or not: The moment it was announced Oedipuss was no longer a Tsunami of messages was send around the Globe. We will remember Oedipuss.
